Operatives of the Special Mobile Force Unit of the Kaduna State Police Command have arrested four suspected kidnappers terrorising motorists along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Agyole Abeh, one other kidnapper was killed by the security operatives during a shootout.

Parading the suspected kidnappers at the Command Headquarters alongside other suspects, Mr Abeh said the kidnappers also engaged the police in a gun battle in an operation to rescue their victims.

He, however, told reporters on Wednesday that two of his men who were injured during the shootout with the bandits are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

The Police Commissioner added that some members of the kidnapping gang equally escaped with bullet wounds.

He hinted that the police also recorded a major success with the arrest of dozens of members of the notorious “Sara Suka Gang” and armed robbers believed to be terrorising residents of the state capital.

Mr Abeh noted that all the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the police conclude their investigation. (Channels TV)
