A former member of the House of Representatives and Commissioner for Environment in Anambra State during the administration of Senator Chris Ngige, Engr. Chris Okey Enemuo, has picked his expression of interest form to contest for the November 18 governorship election in the state, under the platform of Labour Party (LP).
Addressing Journalists at the party’s office in Awka, Sunday after meeting with the state executive of the party, Enemuo said he decided to run for the governorship election under Labour Party because it is people friendly and the only party without crisis.
While describing himself as God fearing and a man of truth, Enemuo assured his teeming supporters that thronged the party secretariat that if given the opportunity, he will ensure the ultimate good of Anambra people.
Enemuo who is from Ekwulobia, Aguata council area announced that under his watch, Anambra must accept and live the golden rule of economics as the state’s common creed.
He explained that the creed means Anambra people caring for the good of one another adding that greed and corruption must be removed from the system.
The former lawmaker while calling for support from the people insisted that the incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano has not done enough to deserve a second term, hence his wishes to take over from him to correct the lapses.
“My contract with Anambra people is to build the future today, through human capital revolution by social investment budgeting in the following areas of human capacity building, free qualitative and compulsory primary and secondary school education.
“Medical aid for all children, pupils, students, the physically challenged , the unemployed, the aged and retired elderly citizens.
“I will also work on integrated rural and urban development through the establishment of industrial size modern farm settlements for cultivation of food crops to achieve food security and to produce economic cash crops for industrial raw material for industries.”
Other areas of his vision include, establishment of foundries and machine tools industries for local production machines, farm equipments, tools, and spare parts as well as design a masterplan for the reconstruction of the entire state.
Continuing, he said: “No one shall be idle. Everyone must be productive and add or give value to earn a meaningful income, no more begging or free giving.
“Even the physically challenged are useful and must be productive in their small way.”
The state Labour Party Chairman, Mr. Luke Ezeanokwasa in his speech said that Enemuo was the first to pick the party’s expression of interest form and would be given all the support he needed to fly the flag of the party if he emerges candidate of the party.
