The long awaited road project which will connect Agric area of Ikorodu to the Arepo area of Ogun State has finally taken off.

This was made known at a stakeholders’ meeting held to sensitise the relevant stakeholders and community leaders on the need for their support and cooperation on the project.

He said the Agric – Isawo-Konu – Arepo road would have a link bridge that will connect the State to Ogun State boundary which will then serve as a link to the Lagos – Ibadan Expressway.

Ambode said the road will be a dual carriageway, having two lanes on each side with laybys in some areas, adding that the road would also serve as another link to Shagamu.

He pleaded with the different communities on the axis to see the little burden and discomfort that would come along with the construction as a temporary inconvenience that will ultimately bring relief and economic progress to the area.

In his remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Temidayo Erinle said the first phase of the road construction would begin from the Lagos Ikorodu road, at Agric Bus Stop.

Erinle, however, called for the support of the members of the different communities and owners of structures that the road project may affect.

The majority leader of the State House of Assembly, who also represents Ikorodu 1, Constituency Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, commended the Governor for opening up the communities, adding that with the construction of the road would greatly improve traffic movement along the corridor, value of properties and security in the area.

In his contribution, the Managing Director of Hitech Nigeria Ltd, the contractor handling the project, Mr. Evan Becker said the project would include four pedestrian bridges at strategic locations on the road.

He pleaded for cooperation from the community members while reiterating the commitment of the company to deliver the project on time.
