NiMet predicts thunderstorms today, with rains over Port Harcourt, Yenagoa and Calabar axis

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has made the following predictions about the country’s weather condition for today, Sunday, July 16, 2017:

NORTHERN STATES: Localised thunderstorms are anticipated over Gusau, Yelwa and Kebbi axis in the morning hours. There are prospect of isolated thunderstorms over Nguru, Sokoto, Kano and Katsina axis in the afternoon/evening hours. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 30 – 33℃ and 20 – 23℃ respectively.

CENTRAL STATES: Localised thunderstorms are expected over Ilorin, Bida, Lafia, Makurdi, Abuja and Jos axis in the morning hours. These areas with the inclusion of Zaria, Kaduna, Lokoja, Ibi and environs are also likely to experience isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening period. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 28 – 30℃and 20 – 22℃ respectively.

SOUTHERN STATES: Localised rains are anticipated over Port Harcourt, Yenagoa and Calabar axis in the morning hours. There are also prospects of localised thunderstorm over the entire region throughout the forecast period. Day and night time temperatures are expected to be in the ranges of 25 – 28℃ and 19 – 21℃ respectively.
