The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has cleared the air on the recall process of lawmaker representing Kogi West, Senator Dino Melaye, saying that the Senate has no role to play in the process.
While stating this on Tuesday, during plenary, he said he stands on his words, citing order 43, in reaction to an article from the Attorney General of Kogi State, published today in the LEADERSHIP newspaper.
Ekweremadu further substantiated his stance from section 68(2) of the 1999 constitution, explaining that when INEC is through with the recall process, it should be sent to the Senate President who will in turn read to all lawmakers.
The Senate President, on his part, lamented the financial recklessness exercised by the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on the spending of about N10 million for adverts, saying “the government is involved.”
