Enugu workers receive owed salaries, leave allowances

The Enugu State Government has paid the outstanding salaries and leave allowances of workers ranging from three to 15 months.

Due to this development the union has organised a solidarity rally in honour of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for proper utilisation of the Paris Club Fund.

President of the Enugu State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Comrade Kenneth Ugwueze said it was the first time the workers are paid all their salaries in full.

Ugwueze said: “We have never had it this way before. When the Paris Club Fund was released, he utilised it for the payment of salary arrears, leave allowances and all.

“The workers are being considered in the implementation of new state service scheme which makes it possible for us to enjoy benefits as state workers among others.

“He has ensured good governance indeed and we are happy.”

He said they the workers would continue to show their support and discharge their duties for the development of the state and nation at large. (Channels TV)
