Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has commended the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mohammed Babandede for repositioning the organisation in line with international best practices, and for national interest.
In an audience with the Comptroller-General at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja, the Governor said that in less than two years the Comptroller General had taken steps that placed the Service in the eyes of Nigerians and international communities as an institution poised to deliver fast, efficient, transparent and people-friendly service to all.
“Your effort in building a responsive Service through the introduction of key policies such as the Immigration Regulation 2017, Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council and e-documentation as well as unified identity card for officers and men are all welcome developments.”
Bello, who said that the new direction taken by Babandede would keep the nation’s borders safe from trans-border criminals and suspected terrorists elements, also acknowledged the effort of Comptroller-General in improved welfare and capacity building for NIS personnel.
The Governor then urged the Comptroller-General to continue to partner with all security agencies and other strategic stakeholders both in Nigeria and across the globe.
“As you take steps to reposition NIS, I urge you to continue to synergise with other security agencies and strategic stakeholders. Inter-agency cooperation is very essential. Hence, the need for joint operations and information sharing.”
In his response, Babandede thanked Governor Bello for the visit and promised to continue with reforms for better service delivery to Nigerians and international community.
