The Nigerian Army has pledged to continue to discharge its constitutional roles in a professional manner in fighting terrorism as it marks 154 years of its existence.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai gave this assurance while lining up the activities for Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2017, at a press briefing in Abuja at the Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Army Headquarters.
Buratai, represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Major General Chris Jemitola said that this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration marks an important day to usher in new hope, courage, commitment, determination, and stabilization efforts of the Nigerian Army to degrade Boko Haram terrorist and contain all forms of insecurity in the country.
He restated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to defend the territorial integrity of the nation against all forms of aggression.
He urged the general public to join hands with the Nigerian Army to celebrate Army Day Celebrations 2017.
Jemitola gave an overview of activities lined up for the NADCEL to include, Jummat Service, sanitation exercise by all formations Saturday 1 July, an interdenominational church service on Sunday, Photo/Arts Exhibition on Monday, Seminar and COAS Commendation Award on Thursday July 6.
Already, the Nigerian Army has kick started the week-long activity with a Juma'at Service held at Mogadishu Cantonment.
