Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has personally secured the release of 61 inmates in the state, after paying their fines.
The gesture was to enable them regain their freedom and celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with their families in their respective communities.
The Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Alhaji Abdu Labaran said in a statement on Monday in Katsina that Alhaji Masari paid N3,666,000 fines for the 16 inmates.
He said that the beneficiaries were drawn from various prisons in Katsina, Funtua, Daura, Dutsin-ma, Kankia, Jibia, Malumfashi and Mani.
The media aide also said that the Masari administration would continue to design policies that would improve on the living condition of people in the state. (NAN)
