As part of Nigerian students resolves to sustain peace in the country, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has appealed to the Police and state security services not to arrest the Shetima Yerima group that gave ultimatum to Igbo living in the north as this would bring more incitement and promote distrust among the people.
A statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by NANS, signed by its National Treasurer, Josephat Emeka Onuegbu said that all hands were on deck to resolve the matter.
“Democracy accommodates freedom of speech. The government should investigate the circumstances that made them do that," he counselled.
NANS appealed to all Nigerian students to work towards a united peaceful Nigeria. It said: “Poverty, bad roads, unemployment in the country should be what we must unite and fight against not tribal and religious differences. We are of the view that politics must be left for politicians. We must understand and accommodate our differences for the benefit of those that are not born.”
