Embattled chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna North-West Nigeria, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, has replied lawmakers from the party at the state and federal levels who issued a vote of no confidence against him.
Speaking yesterday through the state Publicity Secretary of the IMC, Dr. Baba Ahmed proved claimed ignorance of the move to remove him.
He said at a press conference in Kaduna, the state capital: “We are not aware of any problem within the party. We are set up under the criteria set up by national body where we started with three offices of the chairman, secretary and the treasurer before we later got approval to add organising and publicity secretary offices.
“Perhaps in alarmed reaction to the successes of the Kaduna State APC, there have been attempts in the last few days to create an impression that a few members of the party are against the leadership of the party.
“These attempts are targeted at discrediting the current efforts to give our millions of supporters a sense of belonging and empower them to participate fully in the activities of the party.
“So far, the exercise we have conducted has succeeded in creating leadership structures at the local government level, which enjoys full participation of all parties and grassroots members in most parts of the state.
“Our party values intra-party democracy and will avail all members opportunities to participate fully in all its activities. We call on all members to disregard attempts by the opposition and its agents to discredit the commendable work we have undertaken.
“The state IMC has been working hard to establish sub-state structures to galvanise its members. The events involving these defectors have been public and APC does not need to engage the opposition over them.”
