The member representing Anambra East in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Tony Nwoye, has accused the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)-led government in the state of squandering local government funds meant for the development of the state.

Addressing journalists Sunday at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, Nwoye who is gunning for the governorship seat in the November 18, 2017 election in the Anambra State under the All Progressive Congress (APC), said he was motivated to vie for the seat of power by some irregularities and corruption that have crippled socio economic activities in Anambra State, since APGA government took over power.

He alleged that the APGA led government had siphoned local government finds meant for meaningful development of the state, and empowerment of the youths, adding that APC, which is known for anti corruption would expose all their embezzlements.

The governorship aspirant, however, hailed Governor Willie Obiano's achievement on security, saying that if he wins, he would improve further on the security in order to attract local and foreign investors into the state for positive transformation of Anambra State.

He noted that his administration would also map out several avenues to strengthen the economy of the state and boost the internally generated revenue, which according to him, no one had accounted for in the past.

On education, Nwoye regretted the increase in the number of drop-outs in the society as well as hawkers along the streets of the state due to hardship leading to non payment of school fees.

Furthermore, he said his administration would map out various ways to offer free education for the indigent even while providing bursaries for Anambra students who are in different states to give them financial respite.

Nwoye observed that Anambra State is blessed with many untapped potentials that are yet to be harnessed for proper productivity.

While noting that a lot needs to be done in the area of the state's commerce and industry, he regretted that the present policy of exportation of tubers of yam and vegetables by Governor Obiano’s administration had not in any way impacted positively in the price of goods in the market.

He said that Anambra people are suffering while the present administration pay lips services to the provision of avenues to cushion their sufferings.

Nwoye vowed to make agriculture a veritable platform to boost the economy of the state and create several job opportunities for the youths.

He explained that all his policies would be geared towards improving the standard of living of the people, creating direct and indirect employments in line with projecting the state to global recognition.

He urged youths to shun social vices and embrace peace, as well as casting their votes wisely, adding that he has come to redeem Anambra State.
