The Bauch State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious Boko Haram fighter. A statement issued on Wednesday in Bauchi by the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Garba Baba Umar, indicated that on April 12, 2017, following intelligence report and painstaking surveillance, detectives attached to the Command arrested one Muhammad Adamu Nafiu of Balanga in Gombe State at Tama village in Toro LGA of Bauchi State.

The CP disclosed that the suspect is a notorious member of Boko Haram who relocated to Tama village in order to evade arrest after they were dislodged by troops at Sambisa Forest.

“Preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect was among those declared wanted by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list.”

The statement said the suspect voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State.

The CP also announced that the Command in collaboration with Military arrested one Osama Abubakar, aged 20 years of Malam Goje Street of Bauchi, who used a sharp knife to cut off the left hand of one Abdul-aziz Mohd of Gombe Road Bauchi who is also alleged to be a Sara-Suka member.

“Exhibits recovered include two sharp knives used in perpetrating the act. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a notorious Sara-Suka thug who was convicted for similar offence in 2016.” The suspect was also said to have voluntarily confessed and is assisting the Police with useful information that will lead to apprehending his accomplices.

The command also arrested one Suleiman Umar who also used a sharp knife to inflict deep cut on the right hand of one Salisu Harisu Hussaini of Gwabba ward in Bauchi.

Exhibit recovered from him according to the Police include one blood stained knife in his possession.

According to the statement, the Police also arrested suspected cultists and recovered offensive weapons. “On April 9, 2017 Police detectives attached to Yelwa Division arrested the following syndicate: Ibrahim Ahmed male, aged 18 years of Birshi Village YelwaUsman Yunusa male, aged 15 years of the same address; and Emmanuel Ayuba male, aged 22 years of Yelwa Tsakani.

“Exhibits recovered include one sharp knife and one white regalia with inscription Young Money suspected to be used by cultist.

“So far the command has arrested over 200 suspected thugs recovered offensive weapons and charged them to Court for prosecutions.”
