The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has ordered the immediate recall of the Rivers State Sector Commander, Andrew Kumapayi, and all those involved in the cutting of the hairs of erring female staff at the command on Monday.
Speaking exclusively in an interview with CKN News this morning, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, said the Sector Commander and his officers went beyond the mandate of the Commission by publicly cutting the hairs of erring staff.
Oyeyemi, who spoke through Bisi Kazeem, the Head Media and Strategy of FRSC, stated that the agency has more robust disciplinary channels and measures to discipline erring officers “rather than engaging in such crude act publicly, an action which has been totally condemned by the FRSC.”
He appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience as investigation is ongoing, assuring that appropriate disciplinary action would be meted out to all those found culpable.
The Sector Commander and his officers while carrying out a general inspection on the staff of the FRSC Zonal Headquarters in Port Harcourt decided to cut the hairs of some of the female officers for allegedly running foul of the requirements of the Corps.
The action sparked nationwide outrage after the photos went viral on the Social media.
