Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram militants yesterday opened fire at private and commercial vehicles along the Maiduguri-Damboa road in Borno State, a report from the area said.

“Vehicles going to southern part of the state from Maiduguri, the capital, usually escorted by the security personnel, assembled at Molai on the outskirts of the city where they were attacked,” a report in Daily Trust on Sunday said.

The paper said it learnt that shortly before taking off, some gunmen suddenly appeared and shot sporadically, killing scores and injuring many.

Security agencies are yet to comment on the attack.
