Some concerned Imo citizens, who are determined to stop Governor Rochas Okorocha from hoisting his preferred successor, have started shopping for “a credible replacement,” according to a Vanguard report.

The paper said it gathered yesterday that some National Executive Committee members of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) led by Chief Okechukwu Nkoloagu have visited Chief Martin Agbaso to woo him back to the party.

“Similarly, another group of professionals and technocrats, which is visibly disenchanted with Okorocha’s style of governance, has constituted a 15-man committee to shop for credible candidates from the three senatorial zones of the state,” the report said. It revealed that the group operates on the platform of Imo Rebuild Initiative and that most of its meetings take place overseas.

“To actualise our plan to rebuild Imo, we have constituted a 15-man committee to shop for credible persons with pedigree, who will be charged with the responsibility of rebuilding Imo,” a top member of the group told Vanguard.

The committee is said to be equally charged to ensure that the persons shortlisted must have burning desire to not only uplift the welfare of workers and pensioners, but to also ensure that the citizenry are treated with dignity. “For now, we are not looking at any particular political party, but the group will ultimately integrate other stakeholders that are desirous to oust the present administration, in the arrangement,” the man said.
