•Senate President Bukola Saraki.

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has directed standing committees to submit their reports on the 2017 Budget proposals unfailingly next week Thursday, April 6, to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Saraki, who made the announcement during today’s plenary, said compliance on the part of the committees yet to turn in their reports would hasten legislative duties on the budget proposal awaiting passage by the National Assembly.

According to him, the Appropriations Committee would go ahead to consider original estimates as proposed by the Executive should any committee fails to comply with the Upper Chamber’s deadline today.

He stated: “All committees yet to complete work on the 2017 budget proposal are hereby requested to submit their reports unfailingly today to the Appropriations committee.”

Saraki, however, added that these committees numbering over 20, should endeavour to submit reports, or the appropriations committee will be left with no option but to consider original estimates sent in by the Executive. ‎
