Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh, hasaccused some communities in Southern Kaduna of being mischievous and benefiting from the crisis.
He made this known while addressing journalists on Friday at the Area Command Headquarters in Kafanchan.“Some of the communities are mischief makers, they are beneficiaries of the crisis because for one reason or the other they want to misinform the world,” he said.
He, however, assured that the Police are on top of the situation. “We are not taking side on our operation, we are paid by the Federal Republic of Nigeria and we are committed to sustaining peace in the communities,” he said.
The State Government had earlier announced the relocation of the Garrison Commander of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the state’s Commissioner of Police to Southern Kaduna.
This, according to the government is to enable the Army Commander, Ismaila Isa, a Brigadier General, and the Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh, coordinate a determined response to renewed attacks by armed bandits on communities in the two local governments.
The Commissioner of Police said if there is any breakdown of law and order anywhere in the state, the police will quickly respond.
“We will do everything possible to ensure that peace is restored in this part of the state. We have enough security force on ground to curtail the situation.
“There were series of arrests made so far. The situation is not getting out of hand though, there isolated incidences and we respond based on cases reported to us,” he added, while appealing to the communities on the needs to accept peace as the only way to end the crisis.
“Our mandate is to bring peace and order in the affected communities,” he explained while expressing his disapproval of hate speeches among some communities. He added that the security agents will not sit down and allow a few individuals to fuel the crisis as the law will take its course.
“The crisis in Southern Kaduna is about attacks and reprisal attacks that are escalating the crisis, but the security agents are on top of the situation,” he added.
The CP and the Garrison Commander visited new areas that were recently attacked which include; Bakin Kogi and Dagoma.
