Senate to Nigerians: Feel free to seek clarifications on 2017 Budget

Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje, has asked Nigerians to feel free to walk up to the office of the Director General, Budget Office, Mr. Ben Akabueze, for further clarifications on the 2017 Budget.
Goje stated this on Wednesday during the closing ceremony of public hearing on the 2017 Budget at the National Assembly, assuring that the Appropriation Committee will use its powers effectively towards the budget.
He read recommendations from the three-day event and promised participants that inputs will be further collated for implementation of the budget.
Hon Abdulazeez Alta representing Agwara/Borgu Federal Constituency, pleaded with the National Assembly members to look into infrastructure decay, roads, airport and Boro port in Niger.
Theophilus Olukayode, a representative from the Academic Union of Research Institutes, while delivering his opening remarks, explained that Science and Technology, if critically harnessed can lift the economy out of recession.
Mr. Kadiri Haruna, President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), in his own speech, urged the National Assembly to ensure that Nigerians have access to adequate and qualitative education.
He added that “legislators must ensure that in the 2017 budget, we implement UNESCO's 26% budgetary allocations for education.”
