APGA National Chairman Victor Ike Oye.
The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Dr. Victor Ike Oye, Friday called on warring South East governors to quit bickering and unite to fight for the cause of Ndigbo.
This is coming on the heels of the recent war of words between the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his Imo State counterpart, Owelle Rochas Okorocha following a statement last weekend by Okorocha, that three South East governors would soon join (APC).
While reacting to the situation in Awka, the National Chairman of (APGA) described the situation as unfortunate and uncalled for, saying that the two governors have good pedigree and should not delve into such acts.
He described Okorocha’s statement as one capable of fanning the embers of hate, adding that he was trying to denigrate (APGA) as a party and not Obiano.
Oye further said: “Okorocha is an Igbo man and a brother not only to Obiano, but all of us and we wanted him to corporate with others to build a homogenous society.
“He became governor on the ticket of APGA and he should bear that in mind, he decided to create an ember of hate by saying that three governors are planning to join APC.”
While stating that All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a threat to his party in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, Oye noted that the people criticising (APGA) were doing it because of envy.
The APGA National Chairman called on the two governors to work towards promoting cohesion and unity in South East.
He described those joining APC in Anambra State as people that do not win elections, noting that those who win elections in the state are the masses.
Oye said: “The parties grandstanding today in Nigeria could not stand APGA. We are not political jingoists hence, the reason APGA was giving support to Buhari.
“Nigeria is moving into a new era and things must change for the better, Buhari is doing his best to turn the economy around for the country.”
