It was a bloody afternoon today in the Coal City of Enugu in Nigeria’s South-East, with dare-devil robbers brutally killing two persons while leaving two others with bullet wounds. The dead were a driver distributing MTN recharge cards and a tricycle (Keke) driver.
“The MTN driver was intercepted close to Mbanugo Bus Stop by the robbers, after which they opened fire from close range, instantly shooting dead the driver before making away with the money in his possession believed to be the day’s proceeds,” an eyewitness told News Express.
The eyewitness said that the Keke driver, whose name was given as Praise, stopped his tricyle and took to his heels in a bid to escape but was hit in the head by the armed robbers’ bullets.
Another source who called News express from Enugu said that policemen at the scene fled when the operation started nut returned after the armed robbers had finished and left.
Two others, who were said to have been shot in the leg, have been rushed to hospital.
The robbers numbering four carried the operation in a yellow taxi car.
