The Coalition of Civil Society Groups (CCSG) has condemned what they perceive as series of media attacks, blackmail and protests against President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, concerning the strict foreign policy regime.
The group, on Tuesday morning, stormed the CBN headquarters, protesting that those behind the past protest march must be brought to book.
President of the group, Etuk Bassey Williams, in his address, alleged that the continuous media attacks and blackmail were sponsored by some corrupt politicians who are aggrieved by the strict monetary and fiscal policies of the CBN and the economic team of President Buhari, through several media propaganda.
He stated further that “the constant media barrage of the CBN Governor for the introduction of a strict foreign exchange policy regime unsettled the cabals who, hitherto, had benefited from the loopholes in Nigeria FOREX policy.”
Etuk also called on various security agencies to investigate, arrest and prosecute the corrupt politicians involved in the sponsoring of protest and propaganda against public office holders, saying: “These politicians are also the ones sponsoring Boko Haram sect.
He equally endeared Nigerians to support the President and CBN Governor as they relentlessly work to help navigate the economy out of the current recession which, according to projection, will end before the end of the third quarter of this year.
