Senator Kabiru Gaya.
Senator Kabiru Gaya, Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on Southern Kaduna Crisis and Other parts of the country, has blamed politicians and ethnic groups for using the crisis for political gains.
The six-man Senate Adhoc Committee was in Kaduna on Tuesday on a fact finding mission over the incessant Southern Kaduna killings and attacks.
The Senate Committee during a visit to Governor Nasir El-Rufai at Government House, informed him of their mission to help find a lasting solution.
Gaya said the committee was set up to investigate, unravel the remote and immediate causes of the frequent attacks as well as find solution to the crises rocking Southern Kaduna.
"Part of the mission of the Adhoc Committee is to interact, discuss with government, stakeholders, community leaders, security agencies and other relevant bodies that will contribute to bringing lasting peace," he said.
Addressing the Senate delegation, Governor El-Rufai said part of reasons Southern Kaduna crises have continued unabated is because those involved have neither been punished nor prosecuted in the last 35 years.
He warned that, anyone involved in the crisis, no matter how highly placed would be arrested and prosecuted.
"I am the Governor of Kaduna State; if you break the law you will be punished, the entire Kaduna city have been divided and there is need to regain the confidence and mix together.
“I am not an ethnic jingoist or a religious bigot so those who alleged that I am sponsoring Southern Kaduna crisis are just mischievous, no Governor wants crisis in his state,” he said.
El-Rufai said the state government has so far committed about N4 billion in funding security agencies in the state.
