Abia APC chieftain Ebere Uzoukwa.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Hon. Ebere Uzoukwa, says the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the state should get ready for a shocking electoral revolution that will ultimately end its “inglorious era” in 2019.
Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the ongoing Continuous Membership Registration/Revalidation Exercise in Abia and the entire South-East, Hon. Uzoukwa, maintained that “PDP’s colossal failure in the areas of good governance and infrastructural development has ignited a democratic regrouping of well-meaning Abians that will metamorphose into electoral revolution in the state.”
“We are highly impressed with the massive turnout of Abians who are responding to the redemption call which APC presently champions in Abia and the South-East. The foundation for positive change is progressively laid in Abia with the ongoing membership drive. The mistake of 2015 which has negatively affected the South-East politically is being addressed with Ndigbo already embracing APC. By the grace of God, 2019 will definitely mark a turning point in the political landscape of Abia and the South-East,” he said.
On the decamping of some political bigwigs in the South-East, Hon. Uzoukwa averred that Ndigbo will definitely rediscover themselves politically and attract meaningful projects to the zone under the platform of APC.
His words: “The South-East is arguably the most backward zone under the PDP 16-year reign in the country. The situation in Abia is undoubtedly the most pitiable and regrettable. In Abia precisely, we voted with sentiment in 2015 to ensure that an Ngwa-man in the person of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu became governor. With the actualisation of that Ngwa Project, many Abians, including Ngwa people, have moved far above that sentiment and shall definitely vote towards changing what we presently have in Abia.
The people are tired of the PDP system, especially now that the Governor has chosen through his actions and inactions to act the script of those individuals he believes or claims gave him power. So, we must take advantage of the overwhelming failures of the ruling PDP in Abia to entrench a government that shall be responsive and responsible to the people.
“Again, the political strategy of putting all eggs in one basket has been empirically proven suicidal and deceitful and can’t be repeated by our people. We must reconnect ourselves back to the centre in 2019 for the collective interest of our people and zone.”
