National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba has appealed to soccer-loving Nigerians to wear the national colour of Green White Green on Friday when the Golden Eaglets will meet Mexico in the finals of the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
He told our correspondent that the call became necessary for Nigerians to deeply express their unflinching support to the team that is on the thresh hood of winning the cadet World Cup for the fourth time.
“It is a thing of joy that the Golden Eaglets has qualified for the finals of the on-going FIFA U-17 World Cup and I am confident they will lift the trophy for a record fourth time.
“The only way Nigerians can appreciate them and give them their total support towards beating the defending champions, Mexico is for all Nigerians to adorn the national colour of Green White Green on Friday as a mark of support to the team.”
Okumagba recalled the zeal, determination and good football artistry the Golden Eaglets have displayed since the tournament kicked off in UAE two weeks ago and charged them not to relent in their efforts until they bring home the trophy even as he re-assured the nation the total support of the Club during the finals; pointing out that members of the club will adorn the Nigerian colours as a sign of patriotism and total support for the team.
He noted that the exercise will be repeated on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16, during the Super Eagles crucial second leg Brazil 2014 World Cup playoff against the Walia Antelopes of Ethiopia in Calabar.
