Umuahia North LG Secretary, Chief Chris Nwokocha.
A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Chief Chris Nwokocha, has been appointed as the Secretary to Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.
The appointment which takes immediate effect was conveyed in a statement dated January 4, 2017 and endorsed by the Executive Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Hon. Chidiebere Nwachukwu.

Until his appointment, Nwokocha was the Senior Special Assistant to Ikpeazu on Community Relations before he took on the task of driving the campaign machinery of the Umuahia North new Chief Executive as the Director-General of Chidiebere Nwachukwu Campaign Organisation, a job he executed with finesse.

Nwokocha, after a stint in journalism, having practiced in Lagos, Rivers and Abia states, delved into politics in 2007 and worked as one of the Media Coordinators of the Chief Onyema Ugochukwu Campaign Organisation when the pioneer Niger Delta Development Commission Chairman emerged the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2007 general elections.

Since then, he has been a close aide to Ugochukwu, a position he has combined with rendering selfless service to his Ekeokwuru community and Ohuhu clan in general.

His Royal Highness Eze (Sir) Innocent Nwigwe, confirmed last December that the people of Ohuhu had taken more than a passing interest and recognition of Nwokocha’s community mindedness and honoured him with the chieftaincy title of Odere Oha.
