Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, says investigations have revealed plans to use Niger Delta militants to disguise as Fulani to attack the troubled Southern Kaduna.

A report by Daily Trust said El-Rufai made the allegation while speaking during a media chat on Wednesday night in Kaduna.

The governor did not give further details but the report quoted him as saying that he was aware politicians were sponsoring the attacks and were benefitting from the crisis, asserting that they would be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.

News Express reports that the Christian-dominated Southern Kaduna has for months been rocked by killings blamed on Fulani herdsmen but which El-Rufai claims are perpetrated by foreigners. Protests by youths of the area provoked the State Government to impose a 24-hour curfew on three local governments in the area, which will remain in place all through Christmas.
