Members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) on Thursday thronged the streets of Enugu metropolis to celebrate the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari from the South-East Economic and Security Summit.
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo was the Guest Speaker in the Summit held at Enugu Government House yesterday, which had former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, former Chief of General Staff, Ebitu Ukiwe, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, former Commonwealth Secretary General, Emeka Anyaoku and some of the South-East Governors in attendance.
But while the event was going on, IPOB members were busy on a procession around the streets of Enugu, jubilating President Buhari’s absence from the summit.
IPOB had earlier warned Buhari against attending the summit, promoted by former Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji.
The IPOB members, who were in the procession yesterday, chanted anti-government songs, celebrating that Buhari did not attend the summit.
Their leaders who spoke to our correspondent, said Buhari stayed away from the summit as a result as the threat they issued and vowed to make sure that President Buhari does not step his foot on South-East soil until he releases their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
