Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has called on Nigerians to always ensure that the families left behind by fallen military heroes are not abandoned.

The governor stated this, on Tuesday, while launching the 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance emblem.

Governor Amosun, who commended the efforts of those who have paid the supreme sacrifice while fighting for the peace and unity of Nigeria, enjoined all to contribute towards supporting the families they left behind.

The governor appreciated the theme for the year 2017 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, which is, “Appreciating the Resilience of the Nigerian Armed Forces.”

“Since they served Nigeria diligently, we should as a matter of responsibility make sure they are not allowed to suffer or regret the services they rendered to their fatherland,” Governor Amosun said.

In his remark, Chairman, Ogun State Council of Nigerian Legion, Chief Comrade Tosin Oshunsi, said the objective of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration was to promote and care for the welfare of widows, children and other dependents of fallen soldiers.

The Chairman, who revealed that the emblem was a symbol for donation, seized the opportunity to appeal to all patriotic Nigerians to remember war veterans that gave their lives for the peace that Nigeria now enjoys.
