Soteria Cardiac Platform launched in Nigeria

  It was a great gathering of medical practitioners at the official launch of Soteria Cardiac Platform, a new tool for screening the risk of Ischemic Heart Disease, the first of its kind in Nigeria.

The event, which was organised recently in Abuja by Cardio Health Medical Care, attracted the presence of accomplished healthcare professionals from within and outside the country, to unveil an innovation by a team of health care gurus from Canada.

Giving insight into the usefulness and benefit of Soteria Cardiac Platform launch in Abuja, the Chief Executive Officer and President Soteria Medical, Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Jeffrey K. Raines, said: “The device provides frame work for cardiac solution aims at reducing the impact of Atherosclerosis.”

Raines added that “the device will afford the medical professionals the opportunity to identify early detection of cardio vascular related disease with a target to provide early prevention mechanism and nip in the bud, the disease which has sent many of its victims to untimely death.

“The good news about it is early identification and that is the essence of Soteria Cardiac Platform.”

Among the risk factors which he declared can be controlled and listed for cardio vascular disease are cigarette smoking, hypertension, obesity, diabetes and lack of physical exercise.

Contributing on the same subject matter in a technical lecture session titled “The Need To Screen For The Risk of Ischemic Heart Disease In Africa”, Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Alberta from Canada, Dr. Vincent M. Osundwa, announced that “cardio vascular disease is rated third among the top chronic disease in the world that kills over 2 million people annually, and is prevalent in Africa due to our life style.”

Dr. Osundwa said that “much stress in our lifestyle has been a factor responsible for chronic heart disease and it’s necessary to take precautionary measure which is the essence of launching Soteria Cardiac Platform in Nigeria.”

The facilitator of the product launch and Chief Executive Officer of Cardio Health Medical Care, Dr. Victor Nkom, appreciated the participants and expressed happiness that Soteria Cardiac Platform launch will open new grounds in the health industry in Nigeria.

While assessing the unveiling of the Medical Device, Chief Cardiologist, National Hospital Abuja, Dr. Tochukwu Nwezioke, said: “The device is a good innovation that will prevent Atherosclerosis and urged government to acquire the equipment for hospitals as it will bring down the cost of health care in relation to cardio vascular disease.”

Director of Medical Services, Songhai Health Trust, Dr. Kehinde Muhamed, described the product launch as interesting as it assists in reaching reasonable diagnosis due to good instrument that will enhance good treatment.

He advised all medical experts to have access to the device while the public must be sensitised about its benefit.

Another participant who is an orthopedic consumable seller and trainer, Rowlings Okorie, expressed delight about the product launch and sensitised the public to key into the device so as to stop the sudden death that may arise via heart related ailment.
