xThe Federal Government is presently holding talks with members of the Boko Haram sect for the release of more hostages, presidential spokesman Femi Adesina has said.
Adesina also stated that the Federal Government would henceforth treat sponsors of Boko Haram as terrorists the moment they are identified as such
Mr. Adesina stated this in Lagos, during an interview with media men after his presentation at a seminar organised by the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR).
He said that government is committed to tackling issues surrounding militancy and Boko Haram, stressing that there is an ongoing dialogue between government for the release of more Boko Haram hostages.
He said: “You know that this is a government that has capacity to tackle issues. If it knows those sponsors, you can be sure it would address it. Confirmed sponsors of Boko Haram would be treated like Boko Haram insurgents.”
Adesina who spoke on the challenges and expectations of the media in military operations, noted the need for synergy between the military and journalists.
He said that there is no way the military would escape the scrutiny of the media, adding that they (the military) must understand this. (Daily Trust)
