Mr. Valentine Obienyem, the Media Aide to the former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, has cried out against what he called “state-sponsored falsehoods against him.”

Mr. Obienyem said in a press statement that he was shocked to read in the social media, newspapers and on radio, statement by the agents of Governor Willie Obiano saying that he took photographs of a private jet parked at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and posted on the net through his agents so as to ridicule the Governor.

“The way some of his aides even claimed to have seen me personally can only be explained on the theory that they sell dummy to the Governor as a means of extorting money from him to fight imaginary enemies. And they do this perfectly, for I was told that I was the subject of the State Radio’s (ABS) commentary on the 18th of November,” Obienyem said.

He said he has since debunked the unfortunate lie and to make matters clear beckoned on God to take his life if he was in Enugu, not to talk of being at the airport, and also prayed to God to treat his accusers according to His will.

Obienyem reiterated that he was not at the airport and said that as if to show the world the affinity of the aides to Gov. Obiano to lies, that they even said they mediated between him and airport officials, when they accosted  him taking pictures. “I see this as an act of God. If I were at the airport it would have sounded plausible.”

Obienyem, who said he only met his boss after the event, when he returned from Enugu, after seeing the Vice President to the airport, said it was then that he told him about the erroneous posts on social media. According to him, the former Governor, who was shocked, explained that  after their Air Peace flight landed in Enugu, Sen. Ben Obi who was already at the Airport persuaded him to join in receiving the former Vice President, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, and that he saw Gov. Willie Obiano and thinking he was at the airport for the same purpose, he withdrew because they would say, as usual, that he was still behaving as if he were still the Governor.

Obienyem said that what was most worrisome was the  unappetising report from Obiano’s camp in newspapers and social media that with the private plane issue the red line had been crossed  and that they would now become ruthless by taking extreme measures, returning fire for fire and destroying those opposing them, their families and businesses, starting from him.

Obienyem said it was regrettable that they ended up conscripting his principal and his name into what did not concern them and appealed to Obiano to face governance and stop pursuing shadows.
