The police have denied the trending story of the 7-year-old boy burnt to death in Lagos for stealing garri.

The photos of the “supposed” boy had gone viral on social media.

He was reported to have been beaten and burnt to death by a mob after he was accused of stealing on Tuesday.

Mr. Abayomi Shogunle, Police Head of Complaint Response Unit (CRU), on his twitter handle, @YomiShogunle refuted the claim.

“Who knows the exact location photo was taken”?- Boy alleged of stealing in Lagos” on 11.15.2016 @PoliceNG

“Report from Lagos Commissioner of @PoliceNG indicates that NO BOY WAS MOBBED/BURNT in Badagry or any part of the state as circulated.”

He said also that the corpse of a yet to be identified adult male was recovered in the Orile area of the state.

“The adult male corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy investigation ongoing to determine how he died,” said Shogunle, who is also the Lagos Police Spokesman. (NAN)
