Rivers Government to prosecute 2 APC chieftains for alleged murder

The Attorney General of Rivers State has been directed to prosecute the 2015 All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Asita Okorie, for the murder of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member during the March 19, 2016 rerun legislative election.

It was learnt that the corps member was killed at Akinima community in Ahoada West Local Government. The decision to prosecute the APC chieftain was reached during the Rivers State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday.

Commissioner for Information, Dr. Austin Tam-George, hinged the decision to prosecute Okorie on the recommendation of the Justice Monima Danagogo Commission of Inquiry into the violence and killings that characterised the rerun elections.

Also to be prosecuted is another APC chieftain and former member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Barry Mpigi, for the murder of a pregnant woman, Mrs. Baby Nzuuga, in Kpite Tai. (The Guardian)
