Former Abia State Governor Orji Uzo Kalu has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC)

His defection to the ruling party comes less than 24 hours after he resigned his membership from the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA).

Kalu was received by the National chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun on Wednesday at the National Secretariat in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He said he has succumbed to pressures from his friends and well-wishers to contribute his quota to building the party in Nigeria especially in the South East.

The former governor is currently facing a 34-count amended charge bordering on fraud.
Kalu, his company, Slok Nigeria Limited and his former Commissioner for Finance, Jones Udeogo, were re-arraigned before the Federal High Court, in Lagos earlier this month.
They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges. (TV360 Nigeria)
