The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has extended its aerial patrol and surveillance of the Abuja-Kaduna highway to include the railway lines.
The surveillance is part of the ongoing efforts to protect lives and safeguard critical national assets within the affected areas.
In the patrol, both railway terminuses in Abuja, Kaduna and environs were covered using NAF helicopters.
A statement by the spokesman for the Air Force, Ayodele Famuyiwa, said that the security situation in the North West region of Nigeria and the usual trend of crime increase towards the end of the year made the surveillance necessary.
The NAF in August 2016 commenced extensive aerial patrol of Abuja-Kaduna highway, including Abuja metropolis, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano road, Falgore Forest as well as Minna and environs.
It is meant to checkmate criminal activities such as armed robbery, cattle rustling and kidnapping that is on the increase in the region. (Channels TV)
