Putin congratulates Trump; Clinton throws in the towel

In his message,  Putin expressed a hope for a mutual cooperation in getting US-Russian relations out of the critical condition and in solving vital questions of the international agenda and looking for effective response to global security challenges.

He also expressed belief in the fact that building a constructive dialogue between Moscow and Washington, based on principles of equality, mutual respect and real consideration of each other’s stands is in favour of the interests of the two countries and the international community.

Putin wished Trump success in the “responsible job as a head of state.”

The Russian leader and his country became issues during the campaign with allegations that Russian hackers compromised the email of top Democratic leaders, including Clinton. Trump was also accused of having a special relationship with Putin.

In a stunning performance, Trump won 290 electoral votes, 20 more than he needed to get elected. Hillary got 218, a far cry from projections she was headed to the White House on the day of the election.

The real estate mogul won most of the battleground states of Ohio and Florida and also snatched traditionally safe states for Democrats, such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.

Hillary Clinton has congratulated Trump for winning the election.

Clinton spoke to Trump on the telephone early morning of Wednesday to congratulate him as the 45th elected president of the United States of America.
Trump won the US presidential election in a stunning victory that confounded pollsters and Clinton’s supporters.
The Republican took the key swing states of Florida, North Carolina and Ohio early this morning, as he marched towards the White House.
Many Clinton’s supporters wept openly when it was apparent that their candidate had surprisingly lost the race.
Trump won in key states, including Indiana and Kentucky, with 11 and 8 electoral votes, respectively while rival Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has won in Vermont, with three electoral votes.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the U.S. reports that the results came in through exit polls, a system whereby voters leaving polling centres are asked how they voted.
He won in more than 30 states with higher number of electoral votes defeat Clinton.
Donald Trump will become the 45th US president.
