A mild drama ensued today at a Lagos court during the trial of former Director of Media and Publicity of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode.

The former aviation minister is currently facing trial alongside Nenadi Usman, a former finance minister over N4.9b money laundering charge.

They had however pleaded not guilty and were granted bail by the presiding judge, Justice Sule Muslim Hassan.

During the trial Justice Hassan, ordered the seizure of the mobile phone of Fani-kayode.

The accused had held his phones and suddenly, the phone rang out loud and the judge asked: "who is doing that"? He ordered the court's registrar to seize the phone.

The judge warned that the court is not a market place, saying that order and sanity must be maintained at all time.

A witness for the prosecutor witness, Mr. Idowu  Olusegun told the court that N30m was paid in cash to him, by the office of the PDP campaign organisation.

He told the court that he had demanded to know why payments was made in cash, and was informed by one Mr. Oke, that cash was the approved means of payment.

The witness also told the court that apart from the N30 million paid to him, there is also an outstanding payment of N24 million which was not paid to his company.

The matter has been adjourned till November 14 and 15 for continuation of trial. (Daily Trust)
