About 150 persons have indicated interest to take part in the proposed Jigawa State mass wedding.

The announcement for the mass wedding planned to be organised by the state government was made about two months ago.
The state government said the aim of the exercise was to check the incidence of social vices in the society, though the date for the exercise was yet to be announced.
Of the prospective spouses that indicated interest in the mass wedding from Birnin Kudi Local Government Area of the state, there were 91 males and 50 females.
This was disclosed yesterday by the council’s Information Officer, Mustafa Namadi while fielding questions from newsmen, adding that 10 couples had already identified themselves and agreed to be married.
He added that the organising committee for the mass wedding appealed to traditional and religious leaders to educate their subjects on the need to take advantage of the exercise. (Daily Trust)
