The Enugu State Police Command has said that the “Operation Flush out Hoodlums” initiated by its Anti-Cult Unit is yielding dividends with the arrest of 17 suspects including females.

Spokesman of the state police command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrest in a statement, described the 17 suspects as a “torn on the flesh of members of the public in relation to their armed robbery/cult activities.”

He added that the operatives swooped on the suspects from Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state-based on intelligence information gathered.

Also, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Emmanuel Ojukwu has expressed disgust over the rate of youth involvement in cult activities and other anti-social vices apparently without knowing its negative implications, and advised them to always watch the kind of friends they keep.

Ojukwu further maintained that the command would continue the onslaught against crime in the state through various proactive policing programme on cultism and other vices otherwise known as POCACOV. (Daily Trust)
