NiMET forecasts cloudy condition and thunderstorms today in North and Central states, localised rains down South

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has made the following predictions about Nigerian weather condition for today, Saturday, September 24, 2016:

NORTHERN STATES: Cloudy condition is expected over most parts of the region in the morning except over Kano, Katsina and Yelwa where thunderstorms are anticipated. Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely over Sokoto and Gusau axis, Localised thunderstorms are expected over Nguru and Maiduguri axis in the afternoon/evening hours. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 30 – 35°C.

CENTRAL STATES: Chances of early morning isolated thunderstorms over Abuja, Lokoja Minna, Ibi, Lafia and Makurdi axis. Localised thunderstorms are not unlikely over the high grounds of the central cities including Abuja, Kaduna, Bauchi, Jos and Gombe in the afternoon/evening hours. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 29- 31°C.

SOUTHERN STATES: There are prospects of localised rains/showers over the entire coast in the morning. The inland and coastal cities will experience localised rains especially over Lagos, Delta, Calabar and Port Harcourt, Oshogbo, Ilorin, Ibadan, Enugu and Awka in the afternoon/evening hours. Maximum temperatures for the day are expected to be in the range of 29- 33°C.
