FG woos global aviation investors with international airshow

Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Devt

The federal government has announced that the upcoming Nigeria International Airshow will attract global aviation investors to the country, encouraging investments in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

After inspecting the event venue at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, stated, “We decided to host this event to showcase Nigeria to the world.”

“Airshows around the world are opportunities for those countries to showcase what their aviation ecosystems have to offer the world.

“We just came back from Dubai airshow last week, and those airshows actually portray and display the potential of those countries. So, for us, this is the first time in the history of Nigeria that we are hosting an International AirShow, and we are expecting foreign visitors and foreign airlines to come and see what we have to offer.

“So, it is just a platform for Nigeria to showcase itself. Some people may say, well, well, we are still struggling with some aspects of our aviation ecosystem. But then, there is no better time where we are at the cusp of development in the aviation sector”.

The Minister explained that “we have rolled out a lot of policies that is now making the sector grow. In fact, the sector is poised for growth. I am sure you have heard all of those testaments with the private operators, and how good this government has been to them.

“So, this is the right time for then to invite investors, to say, come and see where we are going and what you can do to help. And that is why we are doing the Airshows.

“We have a lot of visitors coming to see what we have, a lot of who have heard about Nigeria and the growing sector, they want to come and see for themselves the products we have and the products other people around the world are willing to bring into Nigeria”.

Keyamo said during the Airshows, “even our local operators will enjoy a lot of person-to-person diplomatic exchanges and business contacts, an opportunity for people to strike deals.

“So, leases are coming and finances are coming. Also, there will be a lot of talk shows, a lot of seminars, a lot of discussions and display.

“We just inspected a lot of store people will display their products. So, Nigeria has a lot to gain. Nigeria will be gaining international attention from potential foreign investors and attracting a lot of people into the aviation potential in the country,” he stated.

Bria Williams, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian International Airshow, stated that the project is driven by the private sector to support government efforts in growing the aviation sector.

The Nigeria International Airshow is scheduled to take place from December 2nd to 4th, 2025, in Abuja. (Nigerian Tribune)
