The Lagos State Police Command has rescued 13 children and 15 adults reportedly chained and locked up by one Emmanuel Adeyemi in a house at Oke-Ira, Ojodu area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, acting on a tip-off, had deployed operatives from the Area ‘G’ Command Headquarters to the scene.
It was learned that the victims were rescued after police received initial intelligence report that 17-year-old boy was chained in the house at Oyinbo Unity Estate, Olamidun Close, Yakoyo, Oke-Ira, Ojodu.
The command’s spokesman, SP Dolapo Badmus, who confirmed the rescue yesterday, said that the victims were rescued on Friday. Badmus said that the command had also arrested one Emmanuel Adeyemi alleged to have been responsible for the crime. She said that the rescued people comprised six male adults, nine female adults, seven female and six male children, adding that they had been taken into protective custody.
Badmus said: “On August 19, at about noon, the Command received information that a child was in chain in a house at Oyinbo Unity Estate, Olamidun Close, Yakoyo, Oke-Ira, Ojodu.
“Consequently, the command mobilised a team of policemen to the location, where a 17-year-old boy (names withheld) was found in a room, allegedly chained by the suspect, who claimed to be his father, to restrain him from going out.
“Further search of the premises led to the discovery of 27 others, chained by the same suspect.”
The police spokesman said that the suspect was currently undergoing interrogation, stressing that the command was working to get to the root of the matter. (Vanguard)
