Rio Olympics: Dogara hails Dream Team over victory against Denmark, calls for more support

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has hailed the heroics of Nigeria’s U-23 Dream Team over their 2-0 win against Denmark in Brazil.

He said in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja: “This Team is good for Gold. We are about to do it again. I strongly believe we can do it. I urge all Nigerians to support the Dream Team with prayers.”
Recall that Dogara, had intervened and assured the team of his support when they threatened to boycott the quarter final encounter against Denmark over unpaid allowances.
Speaking after watching the Nigerian side put down Denmark in the gruelling quarter-final duel, Dogara said the Nigerian spirit was on display in the encounter.
“We pleaded with the team not to boycott the quarter final match and here we are in the semi final, we can go all the way and win the gold medal as was the case in Atlanta ’96,” he said.
Dogara called on all Nigerians to line behind the team as they seek to bring glory to the country.
