Ahead of the August 17, 2016 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), slated for Port Harcourt, former Chairman of Daar Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, stormed Umuahia, the Abia State capital, Wednesday in continuation of his campaigns to clinch the national chairmanship seat of the PDP.

Dokpesi, who arrived the St. Finbarr's secretariat of Abia PDP from Akwa Ibom told the state working committee and other party faithful that he was in the race for the national chairmanship of PDP with a vision to rebuilding and repositioning the party to recapture power at the centre in 2019.

The broadcast industry mogul, who regaled his audience with stories of his ability to build things from scratch to formidable level, pointed out that PDP was formed in 1998 as a big umbrella to accommodate everybody.

He lamented that some members were on a mission to destroy PDP but assured that elders of the party were working hard to bring the party to act as the major opposition party.

“It is very clear that some people are just out to foment problems and challenges for the party but by the special grace of God, the founding fathers who believe in one, united Nigeria, who wanted a prosperous Nigeria, who wanted a Nigeria flowing with honey and milk will definitely ensure that the PDP repositions itself from next month,” he said.

He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of running a government of exclusion, adding that the Federal Government has failed to provide a conducive atmosphere for Nigerians to realise their potentials, a trend he said PDP was poised to reverse. He specifically accused the government of not carrying the South East along in the scheme of things, stressing that he would not sit by and watch Nigeria decline.

Dokpesi solicited the support and votes of Abia delegates to the Port Harcourt convention to enable him realise his ambition.

Receiving the delegation, chairman of Abia PDP, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, commended Dokpesi for his interest in salvaging the party and stressed the need for all hands to be on deck in repositioning PDP.
