Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) on Tuesday, in Kaduna, awarded the Patron of its association to Comrade Garba Muhammad Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council.
Chairperson of the Kaduna State Chapter of the Guild, Queen Abueh, while presenting the award, solicited the cooperation of the media in promoting its activities in the state.
“The Guild is lacking the support it needs especially from the government and others.
“The Guild needs investors and the involvement of Nigerians in its production as much will be generated with such support.
“There is no fatherly umbrella covering us as we continuously struggle on our own.
“We promise to correct slips by members of the Guild that may put them into bad repute to the society and appeal to them for joint collaboration to move forward,” she said.
“The Chapter is trying its best but its best is not good enough,” she said.
She emphasised the AGN wants to work with NUJ in the Nigerian project. “There are numerous projects in the offing that needs media involvement. We need the efforts of NUJ in the Guild. We would want to work together to reflect our work and business; no matter where we are or moved to. We have projects to work together with you.”
In his response, Muhammad commended the Guild for the award, assuring it of the union’s unflinching support and collaboration to find a way forward.
He dedicated the award to the NUJ, Kaduna State Council, stating that “any journalists from Kaduna State should be accorded same respect as the Patron by extension.”
