3 killed, 14 hospitalised in Benin cooking gas explosion

At least three persons have been killed in a cooking gas explosion which occurred early Sunday morning at the Ikpoba-Hill axis of Benin City the Edo State capital.

More than 14 others who sustained various degrees of burn are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Benin City.

Among the deceased were two siblings, aged 11 and two.

A resident of the building where the incident occurred said that the cooking gas which belonged to one of the tenants exploded while a neighbour was cooking.

The fire affected four families.
