Chairman of the northern arm of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Yakubu Pam, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of inequity in the sharing of political appointments so far made.

In a press statement issued in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday, while lamenting that northern Christians were being seriously marginalised, Pam queried the outright exclusion of Christians in the appointments into strategic positions under the present administration.

The group also said while there has been a volume of allegations from the south on the appointments made so far which are grossly in favour of the north, facts on ground revealed that those appointments were lopsided in favour of Muslims from the north at the detriment of their northern Christian counterparts.

It reads: “The appointments made so far in the last one year by President Muhammadu Buhari has generated concerns among Christians from the north, especially in the appointment of security chiefs.”

The statement, then, advocated fairness in the appointment of qualified Nigerians into positions of government, while advising President Buhari to carry out a review of appointments made into his government in order to ensure an equal distribution of public offices.

Pam added that government must be sensitive to the yearnings of its citizens at a time the economic policy of the present administration is having adverse effects on Nigerians.

He, however, called on President Buhari to act fatherly to all and avoid taking wrong decisions. (Sunday Sun)
