A renowned columnist and Chairman, Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, Sam Omatseye, has decried the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the Eid-el-fitri holiday to Thursday.
Omatseye, who wrote on his Tweeter account Thursday morning, said: “Holiday extension because of moon sighting undermines Nigeria as a secular state.”
While advising the President to uphold the pillar of democratic governance, he added that “President Muhammadu Buhari was not voted in as mullah but as a democratic leader.”
News Express recalls that the Federal Government had declared Tuesday and Wednesday as holiday, but extended to today, Thursday.
