The member representing Awka North and Awka South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Anayo Nebe, has donated various items to the people of his constituency in a bid to economically empower them.

The items include two tractors donated to two notable farming communities in Awka North, 20 motorcycles, 40 sewing machines, grinding machines, a brand new Hummer bus donated to Nise Women Group and a brand new pick up van donated to Umuokpu Vigilante Group, among others.

The gesture marks the first empowerment programme embarked upon by the lawmaker since his controversial election into the House last year but it was not immediately known whether it was a constituency project.

While appreciating the support of the people of his constituency, the lawmaker said it was a way of thanking them saying that another empowerment programme, which would be on a higher scale, would take place later in the year.

He assured the people that their interest would be protected in the distribution of constituency projects, adding that he has already embarked on a programme to identify the needs of the various communities in the area.

Speaking at the occasion, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Care Taker Committee, Senator Ndii Obi, who chaired the ceremony, hailed the lawmaker for doing so much for the people in such a short period as a member of the House of Representatives.

He recalled that as the speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Nebe preformed creditably, adding that it was therefore not surprising that the people decided to elevate him to the National Assembly.

Dignitaries at the occasion include the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, traditional rulers, religious leaders and presidents general of town unions.
